The new Microsoft To Do is here

September 9, 2019 - Comments

It’s been an exciting journey since we announced our new app, Microsoft To Do. We couldn’t have made this app what it is today without your support and the feedback you gave us. For that, we want to say a massive thank you! Since our announcement, we’ve been working hard on the evolution of Wunderlist that you told us you’d like to see. We looked at the best bits of Wunderlist and To Do to figure out how we could incorporate these into one great app.

Today, we’re excited to unveil what we’ve been building for you at the Wunderlist/To Do offices here in Berlin. It’s time to take a first look at the new version of Microsoft To Do.

Let's get started!

If you’re eager to see the new look already, then hit that download button. It’s a snap to import your lists to To Do. If you already have a personal Microsoft account, or work or school account, then you’re good to go. If not, you can create a Microsoft account with your existing email address (e.g. Gmail). As soon as you sign in, the option to import your tasks from Wunderlist will pop up, or you can find it in Settings. And that’s it. You’re ready to get started. But, before you go, read on to learn more about the exciting new features in Microsoft To Do.

Your favorite features and more

From smart lists and assigning tasks in a shared list, to keeping your work tasks separate from your home tasks with list groups, we’ve brought your favorite features over from Wunderlist – and added to them. Plus, with the introduction of our Mac app, we’re now available across all platforms.

In addition to the features you know and love, our smart daily planner feature, My Day, sets us apart from Wunderlist. It helps you plan every day more intentionally. Smart suggestions in My Day help you focus on what you need to accomplish that day. And tomorrow? My Day will refresh so you can start the day with a blank slate. Any tasks you don’t complete will be waiting for you in suggestions.

Beloved backgrounds and customizations

When you first open To Do you’ll notice some similarities with Wunderlist, from the list view through to the detail view. All your favorite features are there, but with a fresh, new look.

You told us that you loved the backgrounds of Wunderlist, but you wanted more customization options. With the new version of Microsoft To Do you can choose from a wide range of backgrounds, including that beloved Berlin TV tower (now with a fresh new feel). We went a step further – now you can choose a background for each list to help you differentiate between them. Want to give your eyes a rest? We have dark mode across Android, Windows, and now Mac, and it’ll be coming to iOS soon. It’s not just about the backgrounds – we’ve freshened up our look so that it feels simple, yet modern.
